As part of the project, the University of Innsbruck welcomed Georgian project partners from Tbilisi State University, together with PhD students and regional stakeholders, for a project visit to Tyrol from 27 June to 8 July 2026.

The programme brought participants to Innsbruck, Kaunertal, and Obergurgl, creating valuable opportunities for international exchange, mutual learning, and collaboration among researchers, doctoral students, and practitioners working in mountain regions.
The visit included project meetings and activities at the University of Innsbruck, participation in the Symposium on International Perspectives and Partnerships in Cultural Tourism, and a presentation of the ReMoDe project at the poster session. These activities provided opportunities to connect the project with the wider international academic community and to exchange perspectives on sustainable and sports tourism.

A particular focus was placed on Kaunertal, one of the ReMoDe pilot regions. Together with regional stakeholders and project partners, the Georgian delegation explored approaches to resilient and sustainable tourism development and gained first-hand insights into the opportunities and challenges facing Alpine destinations.

The programme also included a visit to Naturpark Kaunergrat, offering a practical perspective on regional development and the relationship between tourism, local communities, and the natural environment.

Through workshops, site visits, and informal exchanges, participants compared experiences from Kaunertal and Mestia and discussed how mountain destinations can strengthen their resilience in response to environmental, social, and economic change.
